I have never done this, but I hear that setting up an Ableton laptop for clicks and loops is pretty difficult. But I know it’s very beneficial. What are the first couple steps to doing that?

Maybe this is old school now, but for my solo leading, I like to use Prime and my Looptimus midi foot controller. I’ve learned how to be discreet and smooth with the transitions. Works well for what I do. I typically play keys with my solo sets, leading from the keyboard some and also stepping away and just singing with tracks on a certain songs.
