I had a good conversation this week with one of our national team members in Zambia. Over a meal I made the comment that NLW International is not an “educational” organization. At first, this team member looked surprised and confused by that statement. After all, this person insisted, at NLWI we’re heavy into teaching and discipleship. Our books, materials, and TV programs have taught many about lifestyle worship and prayer. And while that is true, I still don’t see us as “educators” in the classic sense of the word. We’re not set up for long-term, classroom style learning. That’s not our strength; nor is it our vision or goal. Our purpose has always been to clarify what biblical worship is and help believers, from children to senior adults, experience it in their daily lives. We remain intentionally nimble in our approach, so we can go into unreached and un-resourced areas to help churches, no matter how far removed they may be. We love to train church leaders, whether for a few days through one of our Intensive Schools or a few months through our coaching and mentoring programs. But that’s really as far as we try to go. Instead of continuing to offer more and more classes and learning for a person, we prefer to point him or her toward one of the universities or seminaries we partner with. In this way, our ministry acts as a catalyst, helping prompt leaders to grow and funneling them toward higher learning and even greater effectiveness in the Kingdom. #NLWI
