1. The Beatitudes (verses 1–12):

   • Jesus lists blessings for various groups, such as the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, and the peacemakers. These blessings emphasize humility, mercy, righteousness, and a heart for God.

2. Salt and Light (verses 13–16):

   • Jesus tells His followers they are the “salt of the earth” and “light of the world,” meaning they should preserve goodness and shine truth, influencing the world positively through their actions.

3. Fulfillment of the Law (verses 17–20):

   • Jesus clarifies that He has not come to abolish the Law (Old Testament law) but to fulfill it. He calls for a deeper righteousness than that of the Pharisees.

4. Teachings on Ethics and the Heart (verses 21–48):

   • Jesus deepens the moral teachings of the law:

     • Anger is likened to murder in God’s eyes.

     • Lust is equated with adultery.
