@Vertoochie and a couple of others have commented on how their notification alerts don’t go away when they check messages with the app. We are still working to improve that experience, but this might help in the mean time. After you’ve read your notifications you may need to manually mark them as read. That should remove the alert from your app icon.
To do this,
1. Click on More in the main bottom menu of the app.
2. Select Notifications from the More menu.
3. Click on the elliptical dots in the right hand upper corner.
4. Select Mark as read.0:18
